I'm a 5th generation born in, too, and don't envy what you may be about to do. I just know that my parents and grandparents would view my leaving as killing their grandchildren. You're much braver than I. I wish you blessings and peace in doing what you need to do. |

Might make the announcement
by 5thGeneration inmay make the dreaded announcement to my super righteous, super loyal parents next week that i'm not going anymore.. problem is, as you all know, they "really" believe that it's tantamount to my killing their grandchildren.
.
pretty tough decision because i think they kind of get the vibe already!

I'm celebrating Yule this year. It has everything Christmas has except Christ. Let's all be thankful for what nature has given us and welcome the sun's growing light! Life is reborn on Yule. Let's celebrate new beginnings while shedding the sludge of the previous year. -

Who's celebrating Yule?
by White Dove inmy daughter and i went to our very first yule ritual/celebration.
it was a beautiful ceremony with masks and costumes of the sun lord, white lady, and the raven of annwyn (sic?).
we witches (i'm in training) sure eat a lot of food (for grounding).

Stove Top Stuffing! Yummy! Yeah, I don't really cook for anyone. It's sad. I'm a sad case. Top Ramen? Oh, I know: Tuna Helper -

Darkuncle, Where in WA are you? I'm from Vancouver.
I enjoy the honest celebration of Yule so much more than the forced commercialized Christmas celebration because of the focus on nature and it's rhythms. I love to acknowledge what so obviously is keeping everyone, my loved ones, and me alive and happy. Nature has it all and should be noticed and thanked. It just feels so right to me. There was no hocus-pocus at all or any other weirdness.

So good it will make your brains fall out...
by Gregor inget a tub of fresh chicken livers.
rinse, dry with a paper towel and dredge them in a beaten egg and roll them in bread crumbs mixed with some garlic and onion salt, paprika, black pepper and a little chili powder.. fry them in about a 1/2 inch of hot oil to a nice golden brown (the liver cooks before the batter browns so don't worry about raw liver).
drain and cool.

Southerners and southerners at heart, if chitterlings is stomach, then what is tripe? Is one from a pig and another from a cow? -

This must be mostly a southern thing. I'm from Washington state and can't imagine eating organ meat or gizzards or stomache or whatever else. I would imagine that if you have to eat those yucky things, that using canola oil is best for your health. Cholesterol is lower in that oil. -

So, you're in love with someone that you're not compatible with ....
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inperhaps it was "love at first sight", but then you get to know him/her more intimately and realize your goals and amitions couldn't be further apart.
not that he/she isn't a good person ... just not right for you.
the physical attraction is real, but issues that are important to you pale into insignificance in his/her mind.

Oh, that's what it's about. Sorry. Forget changing them. It only works in Hollywood. Either take him as he is or don't keep him. I hate the whole ownership sound of that. We don't own people, so how is it our business to change anyone, including our own children. We guide our kids but take them as they are.
